McCaugherty
Kendall McCaugherty graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art Photography from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2013. That same year, she joined Hedrich Blessing photographers as an apprentice where she was trained in the studio's long established tradition: presenting a clients' vision and design through interpretative, intelligent and graphically composed photographs.She continued developing her craft at the renowned Chicago-based studio until its closing in 2017. Kendall joined her mentors Steve Hall and Nick Merrick upon the establishment of Hall+Merrick, becoming a photographer in 2018 and a principal in 2022. In a few short years, Kendall has become known for her impeccable photographic technique and vision, and is one of the most sought after architectural and design photographers with an award winning client base. Her work has been published in top industry periodicals such as Architectural Digest, Architectural Record, Interior Design, Metropolis, LUXE and the Wall Street Journal.
Commercial Photography - The Intentional Narrative
She will be discussing her entire career trajectory from fine art photography student to partner at one of the top architectural photography firms in the country. The main thread that will be repeating throughout her talk will be all about patience and intentionality - her approach to her career as well as how she photographs the built environment. She will also be abe to share her experience as a young female in the industry and some barriers that she had to overcome.

Quality over Quantity in Commercial Architecture
Less clicking, more looking. Focus on your client's design intent through impactful, well crafted images and learn to remove the extraneous and find the narrative in each photograph. She will be walking through her entire process from working with a marketing person at an architectural firm on a real shoot, working with an assistant, meticulously planning and composing a photo as well as hands-on experience and the opportunity for people to create their own portfolio images.
